Vintage 1950s Sideboard Robert Heritage For Heals Mid Century Brass EB11676 MWOO

A stunning 1950s mid century walnut sideboard designed by Robert Heritage for Heals. This is a really beautiful piece of vintage British design with a lovely grain on the front of the doors as well as curving brass handles and a lovely tapering spindle base. This has a very unique sliding door system, first you pull the handle slightly towards you and then you slide the door behind the other one diagonally as they are both connected on a central pivoting spring. The inside is split into two halves with the left having one height adjustable shelf, and the right a cupboard space and two small drawers at the top. One of the drawers has some dividers in it. This is in a nice condition and has had a careful recondition with the top and door fronts being refinished while preserving some of the charm.

CONDITION:

Good vintage condition.

Overall it’s a nice looking thing, there are some scuffs and marks on the legs and a few minor general scratches on the unit. The left-hand door has a faint milky discoloured line near the handle. Both doors have small chips near the top and one near the bottom central corner. There is some general sun lightening to the finish but it looks very nice overall. Inside one of the drawers there is some wood effect lining that appears to have been added at a later date. There are a few minor scuffs inside the unit.
